A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

76. All of these religous nuts need to look more at their actions and comments on this topic. You all are ripping your bible apart to help justify your hate and fear of homosexuals. in the process you isolate your own families and friends that are better human beings than any of you are. It's all of you religous nuts that are destroying our country with your hypicritical and judgemental views. why don't you all just go and pray or something and keep your crap to yourselves.

77. There is definately an agenda to desensitize the american public to immorality. I work around several gay men. most of whom act in a responasble manner, one however feels the needs to broadcast his "gayness" and this week let everyone know the had to get treated for syphilis. gay males are the most promiscuious and this could just as easly have been aids. He's clueless. and it IS wrong.

78. The level of ingorance amazes me....I would have thought that a lot of the people who commented on here would be too busy reading your "factually correct" bible and not have time to beat the rest of us over the head with it online.
You dont have to accept it and you dont have to like it, because quite frankly, someones sexuality is none of your business.
What you do have to do is get used to the FACT that one day the Law will recognize gay rights and gay marriage...and even then you will still have the right to maintain your narrow mindset....and I won't mind.
It also surprises me about how many people are able to be blindly lead by an elected official who is stating incorrect OPINION as fact....and then these people go online and defend discrimination.
Don't you think that God has more important things to worry about than who I love and share my life with???
For instance....Do my new jeans make my @$$ look fat??....This is a far more important issues that God should be worried about!!
Peace and Love to you all...I hope one day you decide to share the same.

79. Interesting how the homosexual community never mentions all those homosexuals who have left the lifestyle because they were delivered by Jesus Christ. Yep...I was "one" but now I'm not...thank you, Jesus, for dying for my sin and setting me free. I never thought it was possible...but all things are possible with God!!!

80. It is the over religious zealots quoting bible verses that make me nervous. You pick and chose what verses in the bible you’ll follow what hypocrites. This is an elected official trying to compare homosexuality to terrorism it's just disgusting.

81. Ellen Degeneres responded to this venomous hate speech with grace, dignity and humor. If you ever watch her show you would know that she almost never mentions anything about being gay or the so called "gay agenda". If most of the people on these comments had a scintilla of her warmth or intelligence, then they might be able to react to this issue by actually thinking about it, rather than as the small minded, warped, bigoted hate mongers that they seem to want to be.
There is plenty of room in this world for difference of opinion. When did we get so narrow in our thinking that we believe that only our way is the right way, therefore everyone else must be wrong? The people who are so quick as to pronounce "fire and brimstone, eternal damnation' on anyone who disagrees with their version of what God or the bible supposedly says, ought to hold the mirror up to their own face for a few moments. Then maybe you can work on yourself instead of attacking someone who does more good in a week than you will in a lifetime.Just a thought. Spew at me now why don't ya.

82. I love all these wannabe neocons talking about the liberal thought police suppressing free speech. I bet you guys were the same rednecks who threatened to kill the Dixie Chicks after they expressed their opinions.
Go thump your Bibles and quit sounding like pious jackasses.

83. The gay community is tired of hetero b.s. and we will take stands against it regardless of what you homophobic hetero "people" (and I use the term loosely) think or feel on the subject.
It's not about you (for a change).
It amuses me to see hetero men post on this subject.
You must be pretty insecure with yourselves to protest so loudly?
You know what they say though;
What you don't like in others are some of the same things you don't like in yourselves.
Or as we say in the gay community; the louder the scream, the bigger the queen!

84. I have always like Ellen. It does not matter to me if she is gay or not for I like her humor and great personality. She has a good heart and gives back to the community. Having said that I do not believe in her life style but that is what she choose and it is really none of my business. Just like it is none of my business what other people do as long as they are not hurting others. Only person in this world we need to account to is God, no one else. I feel that Ellen was out of line in putting down the Senator. It was the Senators own opinion and she is entitled to hers the same as Ellen is to her own. You do not have to agree with it but she has the right to say it. Ellen you disappointed me. I thought you were better then that.

86. As repulsive as Sen. Kerns is, she has a right to her obnoxious and vile opinion.
As for those of you who continue to cite chapter and verse in the bible, and wail about how God will deal with us homos when the end comes, I COULD CARE LESS! That's between ME and GOD, and none of your damn business!
Given all else in the bible, I find it both amusing and amazing that the bible-thumpers and torah-thumpers and koran-thumpers want to focus on TWO out of literally THOUSANDS of passages in the bible and their requirements.
You live your life in your way, and I'll live mine in mine. Thank you!

87. Ok, let me get this right. from reading some of the post it seems that its ok to give misleading information about homosexuality, or to say that there is a gay agenda or a black agenda, and that any mistreatment is ok as long as everyone thinks the same, acts the same and looks the same.......hmmm, something is wrong with that picture. When killing and beating innocent people in God’s or morals name is acceptable, then there is a real problem with that thinking. Her comments is going to lead to that, give people an excuse to murder in morals value and then they believe they are above the law. May be she is mad because her son is gay, but that is a family issue and she should love him for who he is and not what she wants him to be.
