A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

61. The senator is 100% correct. You can call her comments public or private, it does not matter. If those who elected her do not approve they can vote her out, but I would be willing to bet that she just assured herself to be reelected as many times as she wants.
What she said IS what the majority feels, thinks and believes. Even if the majority will not come out and admit it because they do not want to offend, they will vote that way every time.
I dare any gay coallition to put up there veiws to a public vote and see what happens. The majority should rule, it is just that lately the majority is more likely to wait things out in the background while the "gay" issues are thrown around as if they have become the rule and not the exception.
I have no personal issues with anyone gay. I just do not believe that they should have super imposed rights over the majority.

62. Why is it the the religous wingnuts in the country are so afraid of gay people? What have they done to them to be so personally offended? They seem to spend the bulk of their time in other peoples bedrooms, while turning a blind eye to what our current Administration has done to the constitution, killing thousands of people based on lies. People are born gay, end of sentence. Saying that you disagree with the "gay lifestyle" is absurd, if your gay, that your life, like it or not. I am a60 year old gay man who realized at age 32 that one's sexuality is only important to others, which is tragically sad. People who pick and choose passages from the bible are the one's who are sick and immoral. This women has shown her complete ignorance and perhaps she despises herself for having a gay son. She should seek professional help, so call me queer if it makes you feel good, you see, it not longer matters to me, it makes me feel pity for the bigoted, ignorant fools who have nothing better to do in their lives. Better to remain silent and have people think you a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Everyone have a right to their opinion, well I can say that gay is a form of disability, all of those gay who are always getting offended by someone's comments need to create their own little world with all the gay people and their own little gay creatures, they need to be expelled out of this world they gay have and need to understandind that "being gay" is a risk. i.e. if you are afraid of others looking at you then you need to keep aways from others. simple

74. The woman hates the fact that her son is gay, but she still loves her child. The word is what protects us and cannot be modified those that try change it are to whilst be damned. Free speech is one thing, but when you are a representative you are the voice of the millions of whom you are representing. If the whole country were of gays and lesbians without even switching (probably would be any sperm banks anymore) civilization would be threatened anyway you want to put it. Child molesters, homos (also child molesters are in this group), terrorism, worthless wars (our nation’s economy has declined because of this), racism (homosexual is not a race it’s a sexual preference that should be kept on the down low), sex offenders (this is also around the world too); these are the things that are a threat to our great nation.
