A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

50. I know of a woman who tried to convert her gay son and she used the Bible and her church to condemn him. He committed suicide at the tender age of 16. This mother has regretted her actions ever since. She now goes out and speaks to people about not doing what she did. Rep. Kern your son has a soul that belongs to God. Why he is gay no one knows but God. I am a born again and spirit-filled Christian. I am gay. I have been with the same partner for going on 22 years now. We adopted and raised a son who is now very happily married and I have four beautiful grandchildren. We get together for family gatherings every holiday. We are all very close. My grandchildren used to come and spend every summer with us. We live in Florida. My grandson is now dating a beautiful girl and my granddaughter is ready to graduate from High School and is in the, boy dating frenzy, stage of her life. None of them are gay. Please Rep. Kern think about your words and actions. God has given you one of his souls to look after and take care of. Love him and support him. My parents were somewhat supportive of me and I took care of them til their dying day. My partners family are very supportive and we truly are blessed to have a huge family that we love very much. I go to bed every night thanking Jesus for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us. Rep. Kern please love your son and God will take care of everything else. God Bless you. Bob

52. The so-called Christians and other religious types who claim to believe in God are the reason I no longer go to church. These people are constantly spewing hateful, mean spirited nonsense. Contrary to what you all believe, it is not okay to hate someone simply because they happen to be gay. If you truly believed in God,you would show love, not hate, and you would leave the judgement up to Him.

I am curious, I watched this video of Ellen calling Mrs. Kern, and no where in the video are comments made by the representative, because Ellen did not speak with her, which this commentator claims she did, and as such, if this so called videologist, which is also a fancy title for journalist, what do you think you are doing placing your personal opionion into a news story, you are a disgrace to the profession of news reporting, AOL should have better sense than to allow this type of presentation representing their venue. Apparently, you are "GAY" and have decided to use this forum to express your personal crap amongst the masses....grow up peep, report viable news, unbiased, and maybe, just maybe you can join the ranks of people who reports, "TRUTHS" instead of their own agenda

54. Politicians have a right to their opinions. If they didn't, then they would all be the same and we would have no choice in who to vote for. Most people don't have a problem with the person that is gay, just the fact that they are. I think that is fine. Not like in the past where people hated blacks for just being themselves. HUGE difference here. I personally think homosexuality is wrong, but i know quite a few gay people and don't hate them-just what they do. We ALL have a right to our opinion

57. If you think it's bad being gay you should try being a middle aged white guy. We basically keep our mouths shut & our only agenda in life is to survive & get along the best we can. I find it ironic that women have taken up the call of being "spokesperson" for America now. This ms. Kern & Gerry Ferraro are afforded the opportunity to speak out without retribution or only minor passing feedback i must say. I wonder if the "neutering" process of masculinity brought on by PC isn't the actual basis for so many young men turning to the 'gay' answer? We've basically lost our ability to determine the real truths in our society because noone can speak of them anymore. The minority cause seemingly is far more important than that of a 'consensus'. All I know is the era I grew within was far more balanced & peaceful knowing the proper order of things as they should be. America's lost in an identity crisis with a war of words and nobody knows who they really are anymore... With that said, I applaud ms. Kerr for her outspoken views....

58. While I wish the gay community NO harm, I'm about sick to death of them pushing their agenda on everyone else. In the schools, in the media, you name it. What they are creating is BACKLASH. I for one do not want the govt. policing our bedrooms, and what people do in the privacy of their own home is their business, but the gay agenda in the schools and in the media is FORCING a political agenda down our throats.
