A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

31. This is a good example of the falling away of America. Crime and sexual immorality are at all time highs. Gay is not the way, and Sally Kern is no way preaching hate. I for one cannot stand the thought of the teaching that "gay behavior is acceptble" is going on in our schools. I have two small children(brought forth by the way from proper consumation between my wife,a woman, and myself, a man) and it really discusts me that I will have to fight the good fight soon, in the schools that they go to, if I see homosexual behavior tolerance taught. This type of behavior should be taught as being an extreme lifestyle that is very dangerous. The path to Heaven is very narrow any deviation from that path without true repentance is a pathway to hell-not good friends! Ellen and others should read their Bibles, because this life is a mere blink of the eye compaired to Eternity. We will all have Eternity after this life, unfortunately only those who are truely remorseful for their iniquities, and embrace the only true merciful and loving God will find Eternity in Heaven. All others will go in the opposite direction..torment,pain,lonleiness,fire...FOREVER!!!!
PLEASE READ YOUR BIBLE, ASK GOD FOR FORGIVNESS, ACCEPT HIM AND HIS WAY INTO YOUR LIFE. HE UNDERSTANDS HOW HARD IT IS, AND HE DOES REALLY LOVE HIS CREATIONS AND WANTS US TO BE WITH HIM IN HIS GREAT HOUSE. 35. Regardless of her or most of the people's she represents opinions, she needs to be constructive as an elected official in her comments. She failed to do that and continued on a nutbar platform. If you're a Senator and have anti-gay views you have the ability to do something other than simply make inflammatory and ill-reasoned comments.

For the comments about homosexuals being a "scourge" on our nation? Are you aware that the HIV epidemic started in Africa, and was most likely passed to men in the military who had sexual contact while serving in the military, and brought it back home to US?
And as far as the Bible goes, well, I am a Christian~and there are many other things mentioned in the Bible that we should NOT do...adultery and the like...that are just as bad as homesexuality. And how many times have you heard a politician like Ms. Kern get up and speak out against THAT? Look at the incredible divorce rate and try to tell me that gays and lesbians are the scourge on our nation?
Please! Narrow minded and ignorant individuals are the last people we should want representing us in the government.
And just like Sally Kern may have the right to express her views, so does Ellen Degeneres have the right to confront what she feels are erroneous statements made by a member of our government who we ELECT and put into office! Senators work for US and are paid with our tax dollars...or have you all forgotten that?
Judge not, lest ye be judged--and tend to your own backyard---are you perfect? I doubt so very much.

If'n we are gonna cite the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, BIBLE, let us be fair and cite the entirety of the documentation.
In Romans, Paul teaches that Homosexuality is an abomination to God and He has given them over to a depraved mind. As far as Jesus opinion, he teaches to hate the sin but love the sinner but at the same time, have nothing to do with those who deny they are in a life of sin. Warn them and be done with it. It is their free will choice to continue to be an abomination to their creator.
Bottom line: Judgement day is going to be interesting and we will all be there. Special seating arrangements for Atheist.

45. To the person who said Gay people are "cry babies", do you feel threatened by people voicing their opinions? Or are the ones you agree with the only ones allowed? Maybe you'd be a "cry baby" too if you or someone you knew was attacked or killed for being straight! I was recently at a memorial service for a 17 year old transgendered youth who was killed on the street. What if your child was killed for being straight? How about the guys who were attacked in Fort Lauderdale for sayng "good morning" at a diner and were attacked for being Gay? Attitudes like yours and Kern's help to stereotype ignorance and fuel hate and violence. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with respecting individual's rights. But then again you're probably a big fan of Hitlers and the KKK too! And those of you quoting YOUR bible, what skeletons do you have in your closet? What have you done for your fellow humans today other than spout ignorance?
