A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

353. I think Ellen is a nice person. But, she is caught up in her popularity and society has made it acceptable to live in sin, all in the name of freedom of choice. Our freedoms do not come from The Constitution. All gifts come from God. Yes, God gave Ellen the freedom to live a homosexual life. But, God tells us in his Word that homosexuality is sin. God wants Ellen to turn from her sin and ask Him to save her sould and be Lord of her life. I really think Ellen would make a great Christian. She has the potential to make a big impact in The Kingdom of God. I am praying for Ellen, and her sexual partner.

354. Ellen D. wanted to figure out which societies(that had fully embraced the gay lifestyle) had disappeared that we didn't know about. Some people don't know about Sodom and Gomorrah but they were destroyed by fire and brimstone. Other cities on the same plain as Sodom and Gomorrah were also destroyed. Most people don't know about them. They've been forgotton because they were destroyed and were not as infamous as Sodom and Gommorah. Of course we can always talk to the present day residents of Zoar(which is the new name of Bela), the one small city on the plain which was not destroyed because Lot fled there before the rain of fire fell on the rest. We can always ask these residents if they'd like a gay community to move to their city. I'll bet they won't be too enthusiastic.

355. It's really too bad that a time machine couldn't take all these people moaning about gay people and liberals back to the 1950s where they belong. If there IS a Heaven I certainly wouldn't want to go to a place that was full of such judgmental, nasty people. I'd prefer "Hell" with my gay friends--at least I'd be guaranteed some fun, with warm, compassionate people. BTW, I'm a straight woman living in sin with my boyfriend, who CHOOSES not to have children. And there are gay people who DO have kids, so it's not as black and white as some close-minded people believe.

One other thing, do any "Christians" actually read and study and form ideas and arguments about all the incredible amount of things in the Bible? It seems to me that most of those commenting herein are simply regurgitating things they have heard from preachers or TBN (which are often again a parroted quote) citing verses willy-nilly and pulled out of context used fallaciously to support some opinion. God didn't caall his flock to be stupid nor does he ask for blind sheep as followers. Augh! Get with it! Skepticism can be great and can make your faith stronger.

360. I need to make a statement on the title of this forum. The title includes the word "homophobic". This word is used frequently by the liberal media. The word means "fear of homosexuals". I believe homosexuality is a sin. But, I am not "afraid" of homosexuals. So to say that Christians fear homosexuals is far from the truth. I work with a homosexual who is a very caring person, fun to be around, a good worker, and I am proud to call him my friend. But, on the other hand, I pray for him, because he is being deceived by Satan, and society has made it socially acceptable to be openly gay. When the world around you says "you are okay, what you do with your life is okay, and you aren't hurting anybody", it causes such a loud roar in your head that you have trouble hearing the whisper of the Holy Spirit. My heart breaks for my co-worker. I want him to know peace and true joy thru a relationship with Jesus Christ. I can't save him, but I can ask God to send him guardian angels. I can ask God to open his eyes that he might see. I can ask God to make himself known to my friend in a might way. I can tell my friend how much he means to me as a friend. I can tell my friend that God loves him more than any human being can ever love him. I can tell my friend that he can have a personal relationship with God thru Jesus Christ. I can tell my friend all have sinned, be it little or be it small, we are all imperfect and are not worthy of being in the presence of God. I can tell my friend that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin, and that if he admits he is a sinner, believes Jesus is the son of God, and confesses all of his sins, that he can be saved.
Again, I will say, I am not AFRAID of homosexuals. I am not homophobic.
