A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

You claim that Christianity is about the common good and God's love for everyone. All I see coming out of it is hatred and filth, something I will keep my children far away from. 334. Oh those gays, here we go again! They should stop all this follishness and follow the high moral example str8 folks have set in this country. Afterall, there is NOT a multi-billion dollar porn industry that caters to str8 men, (no perverts there) and 99% of str8 folks who get married, stay married. Children are never born out of wedlock because str8 people never have sex until their wedding night (afterall, that's a sin). Let's not forget all the abortions that are performed because two men having sex makes all those unwanted children.
It's interesting to me that so many str8 people seem to know (and quote) what the bible says about gays and sex, but conveniently forget what apply to them. Try applying the God's word to your own sex lives and marriage rights before claiming the moral high ground. Then you won't be such hypocrites.

336. This is for #282, we know you didn't choose to be the you are but you have a choice too. Asking God for forgiveness he will answer. There have been plenty you have turn away from it and it was hard work, but you have to truely want it. Not do it because someone is making you. It's got to be your own WILL. Some just think it too hard and well "ELLEN" says it's ok then it must be. I don't understand gays who say they don't like being gay and do nothing to try and change. I mean really work at it. 337. Unbelievable, citizens of the US need to quit their Holier then Thou attitudes about the way strangers live and simply let people be. There are plenty of gay people living wonderful lives and there are plenty who don't. Just like straight people. People like this idiot from Oklahoma are no different then fundamental Muslim radicals who would also like to be rid of gays. They would also give a lashing to this Senator for being who she is, a loud mouthed waste of breath. What I'm saying is, the great thing about our Country is its diversity and the ingenuity that comes from having people with many different lives and ideas. We should learn to respect our neighbors and cherish our freedoms. No good will come of the hatred and bigotry that this foolish woman spouts. First, Brendon (aka "The Videologist" attending), Sally Kern is not an Oklahoma State Senator--she is a member of the OK House of Representatives which makes her Representative Sally Kern (not Senator Sally Kern or "the Senator".) There is a big difference--similar to that of the U.S. federal House of Rep's and Senators. It's always best to start with correct facts especially when referencing another's disregard for factual truth. As far as Kern's inept blathering about some homosexual conspiracy, she has every right to make rediculous public statements expressing her complete lack of knowledge on the matter, her insensitivity towards others, her paranoid delusions about some great gay conspiracy to take over the world and turn our kids gay and her disregard for Christian doctrine regarding unconditional love for others (not to mention that part about pulling wood out your own eye first--or your foot out of your mouth.) After all, she is a politician and that's what politicians do--lie, misrepresent facts, accuse minority groups of people for all the problems in the world, act completely mentally ill and so on.
As for the idiots who are bitching about being "crybabies"--well, when you get ostrasized, teased and bullied, or beaten or murdered for your sexual preference (which really affects nobody else) let's see if you would maybe fight back a little when someone accuses you of being part of a conspiracy, thus, likely bringing more trouble your way.
As for the Bible thumpers quoting verses about God hating homosexuality--well read the whole Bible--its message is LOVE. God may hate the actions (maybe--it is His to judge alone or in the case of Leviticus, a judge of the law of the time) BUT, God calls on YOU to LOVE and care for ALL people and NOT to judge. Jesus even hung with "sinners" (not just former sinners) sarcastically telling the Pharisees that since they were not sick they didn't need a doctor. So really, the Bible teaches TOLERANCE, it teaches unconditional LOVE of all peoples. So don't YOU be blinded by Satan.
Just an aside, I am not gay, I am a Christian. Oh, I have gay friends (along with a myriad of other "undisirables" as friends being that I am a "long-haired biker type" musician and artist) and I "preach" through my actions.
