A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

316. Since homosexuality is wrong, she's wrong.

317. We certainly have come to the place in history where, as the Bible says, we call evil good, and good evil. Keep looking up, Jesus will soon come in like manner as he left, only this time it will be in judgement.

318. Homosexuality is nothing more than a sexual perversion caused by a stunted phase of development.
Sexual perversions do not deserve special rights to marry or adopt children... they need treatment
Children should not be exposed to nor reared in an atmosphere of sexual perversion.
Homosexuality was included in the DSM of mental disorders until violent homosexuals made death threats to the good doctors who compile the manual.
Homosexuality should be reinstated in the DSM immediately with treatment guidelines.
It is time to halt this progression of sexual deviance from becoming an acceptable norm in society.

319. It is tru though. Schools are clearly teaching to "accept" everyone and instill in kids as young as they can false teachings. Gays live a lifestyle that is an abomination. Its not being judgemental its speaking the truth and thats what most people hate to hear now days. People want everything sugar coated, they hate hearing things that set off conviction in their hearts. Everyone has sins they are tempted with but it doesnt mean you have to give into the temptation. When you act on it is when it makes it wrong. Im 100% on the senators side with what she spoke of.

320. Yes, yes, yes.....its the gay conspiracy that only us gays knew about...and now we have been outed (again?). Us gays is gonna cloud up a rain all over the entire US and the world....and we are gonna make all you hetrosexuals into gays, too....
C'mon, do you see how ridiculous that sounds?
Gays aren't sure why they were made gay, but they were. I don't know why I am gay, and I sure a heck did not "choose" this "lifestyle" (actually its a life, not a lifestyle). I can understnad and live with the fact that many folks won't comprehend or accept gay people, like I said, I don't totally understand it myself. But believe me, you don't have to fear us.....we're just people, like anybody else.

322. Right on with the Bible reference, you moron. The Bible also says that you can't eat pork, and that it's okay to own slaves. God, I hate it when idiots use the Bible as justification for hatred. How stupid can you be?

323. Good for the senator. Homosexuality is an aberration of nature, not a life style.

324. I feel the Senator is correct. It is stated in the bible that homosexualty is an abomination. God does still love people who choose to act on homosexual urges just like people who take drugs or people who steal. He hopes we will make the right choices but it is our choice and he sees us as his children whom he loves more that we know and deserve.

325. I am a straight woman I have been married 33 years and Love being married to a man . I have nothing against people doing as they wish in the end they are the ones that have to answer to God and I am not God . What I do take offense to is when we go somewhere with our grandchildren and there they are 2 woman kissing or 2 men carrying on like a couple in front of the children that is sick why push this on people that don't understand it ,I don't want my babies growing up thinking that it is alright for 2 people of the same sex to act like Morons in front of the children ,other than that to each his own.

326. Ellen the degenerate should keep her degenerate mouth shut. I personally don't care if gays get married or jump off a bridge, but I don't need to here them squawk about other people's rights to think what they like. To claim there is no basis for thinking queers are practicing abnormal sex is stupid, as they obviously have no faith in biology. Whatever, life and eternal truth will judge the queers, just don't tell me about it.

327. Sally Kern's comments are unbelievable, maybe she should put down her bible and actually take a look at the world. I myself am a gay teen, and not once was I EVER told that homosexuality is ok in any school setting. Do you religious zealots believe that gay people CHOOSE to be this way? Or do you people think that they just woke up one morning and said, I think I'll be gay from now on. Sally Kern is a public official, and though she has the right to speak her mind, she shouldn't publicly do so while holding public office, since all it does is spark controversy and hate mongering.
If homosexuals are morally corrupting our world, then the heterosexuals are just as much to blame if not more so. Divorce rates are climbing, drug abuse, prostitution and crime rates are rising as well, PRIESTS, holy men, are raping children in their congregations! People are looking for a scapegoat, and this time the blame has fallen with the gays. You religious fools should take a look in the mirror and you'll find the real problem with the world today, since it's estimated that only 1 out of every 10 people is homosexual. =)

328. Ok I think this woman shall resign from her position as state represenative... and yes I am gay and what she said was TOTALLY out of line.. and seeing how some people still want to use the bible as a shield and you so called "Christians" still pick and choose which parts of the bible you want to follow OH LETS JUST FORGET THE PARTS WHERE IT SAYS LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF OR JUDGE NOT LEST YOU BE JUDGED.... Acts 2:21 WHOEVER calls in the name of the lord shall be save!!! John 3:17 For god did not send his son out into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him... hmmmm sounds like god is love to me not some hate fueled burning wrath you people want to believe in... This woman comments were sickening as a person of power she should leave her personal views out of it.... and do her job for whats best for all the people she serves... wow she is turning her back on her gay son at that.. I hope people that vote for her don't expect alot out of her cause she will turn on them too at the drop of a hat....

329. If you fail to see how dangerous the Oklahoma State Representative, Sally Kern's words are then you are a part of the problem. Have we not learned from history what can happen when an elected official preaches hatred and intolerance? Ring a bell, anyone? Come on, Homosexuality is not "a bigger threat to our nation than terriorism or Islam." How dramatic is that? What will "destroy our young people... destroy out nation" is not challenging the fear mongering and pious posturing of the bigots, racists, homophobes and misogynists.

330. Someone said everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and it doesn't matter. But it does matter. Someone is right and someone is wrong. Best to make sure you are one the right side. Homosexuality is either acceptable to God because he made us that way, or the homosexuality is forbidden and punishable by God. I guess I could throw in another possibility – There is no God. It would really suck for you to be on the wrong side.
