A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

301. It really scares me to see the amount of stupidity and utter ignorance in America! Many of the posts I've read here seem like they're from the Dark Ages! I guess society always needs a scapegoat, doesn't it? How sad that in this day and age we have to blame someone else for all our problems instead of looking in the mirror and seeing who the real culprit is!

302. That was hysterical. Look, yes a person is entitled to their opinions. But, my goodness to compare people who have beautiful, loving relationships to terrorists? Homosexuals have always felt unaccepted, afraid and alienated. To return to that would be a good idea?
What's wrong with loving another human being? There are bad seeds in each group. Oh, those bad heterosexuals having their swap parties, strip clubs, prostitutes and drunken shenanigans. The gay groups don't corner the market on promiscuity...they just get more press. We should be a society that embraces differences, as long as no one hurts or harms another. That doesn't mean you have to agree with it or want it for yourself. But, it does mean leaving other people to lead, healthy, honest, loving lives without ridicule.
This woman is an government official..it's not the same rules for her as it is you are me. What she said is FRIGHTENING and down right wrong.

303. Those who seek to use the Bible to assault the gay community with, ought to get understanding. Nowhere in the Bible does it condemn homosexuality. The man on man activity the bible speaks of are about those with unnatural appetites. To a gay man, to have sex with a man isnt unnatural but natural. The bible was speaking of a time where straight people gave themselves over to unnatural appetites, because the community was so perverse that men, straight, sought out other men. That is unnatural, and is what the Bible is talking about. So, get some wisdom and understanding about it all before we type out our hatred against something we don't fully understand. Life is too short to hate anyone. Dont like the way they live? Not your problem, and it certaintly isnt theirs either. Get a Grip! Get a Life!

304. ha. I'm so glad someone finally took a stand for homosexuality. Go, Ellen, Go!
And as for the bible incident, God is deluded if he thinks that two people of the same gender can't be in love. I'm glad I'm not a Christian because I would have tofollow all of "God's" crazy, insane laws. I question the sanity of those who oppose Ellen's descision. And I further question the sanity of any person who enters into a Catholic church.

305. I pray for the day when people are able to think for themselves and not follow a belief system that based in fear. Its so ironic so many so called Christians judge everyone else but themselves. Organized religion is the panacea of the people.

306. I'm tired of homophobes!!!!!! This planet was created by a Heavenly Father not just for a few select and their narrow minded, blind view. There are a wide variety of peoples on this planet with limited resources. We all need to pull together with a little more understanding and a little more education in dealing with the real problems of the world. Welcome, to the modern world of 2008. If you don't like the fact that others live on this planet in a different way, I'll be happy to send you to the next hospitable planet available.

307. When has anyone agreed with everything someone says or thinks? Ellen has her show because she is gay and no other reason. She is no funnier than any other comedian and surely she does not have her show because she is pretty. This topic is alway going to be controversial because all folks are not going to think that people who dig in other's butt holes are ok or women who put rubber items in each other are normal. But hey, what difference does it make? You are all strong enough to take it. Most folks take offense when gays try to force their lifestyle in schools, churches and hard working everyday people's lives. Gays are right now one of the largest lobbying groups there is in DC and they get their way on many bills that are present and passed. So, this is probably one of the reasons people are sick and tired of gays crying. Gay people are wonderful and amazing people but their lifestyle is a little creapy and nasty..

308. This woman is certainly entitled to her opinion. She's also entitled to the backlash it will cause. Free speech? Absolutely! However, it seems that many people think that free speech is for heterosexuals only...WRONG! You're certainly free to express your opinions, and we are free to speak out against them with the same right to free speech that you are yelling about!

309. PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK. First its blacks and holy rollers find scripture to "put them in their place." Now its gays, arabs, oil rich countries and any politican who beleives people have EQUAL rights under the constitution. Perhaps we should talk about when Jesus came to earth did he judge anyone? NO. But yet christians believe they have the right to do so day in and day out. These same people are the same ignorant redneck hicks that make statements like "Send the Mexicans back home" or "The blacks should get back on their boats and go back to africa." Perhaps those that preach hate should be built an island in the pacific and kill off each other one at a time and leave those of us who are practicing the constitution, youknow "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness" and being "free of religious persecution" what a stupid idea, ohh wait those are values out country was founded upon.

310. Did a door at the insane asylum get left open? Who are these sick people with the vile comments? So many weak and pathetic losers trying to gay bash. ROFLMAO Cowardly and fearful attacks only show your inner conflict and inability to understand good in all it's forms. I feel so, so very sorry for your families, your neighbors, your co-workers, your community. Living with that kind of insane hatred destroys your minds, your hearts, and most importantly your souls.

311. The Senator is right on. Homosexuality is no more normal then having sex with an animal or a small child. We are all being indoctrinated to believe that it is perfectly normal. Her sin is to say it in public because now the gays and the liberals will all be down on her and that is a big no no.

312. Unbelievable, citizens of the US need to quit their Holier then Thou attitudes about the way strangers live and simply let people be. There are plenty of gay people living wonderful lives and there are plenty who don't. Just like straight people. People like this idiot from Oklahoma are no different then fundamental Muslim radicals who would also like to be rid of gays. They would also give a lashing to this Senator for being who she is, a loud mouthed waste of breath. What I'm saying is, the great thing about our Country is its diversity and the ingenuity that comes from having people with many different lives and ideas. We should learn to respect our neighbors and cherish our freedoms. No good will come of the hatred and bigotry that this foolish woman spouts. My thoughts and best wishes go out to her son having had to grow up with this hateful woman as his mother.

313. HOW CAN SALLY KERN BE SO IGNORANT? THIS MORON GOT ELECTED? OH, YA ...THIS IS OKLAHOOOOOMA. SHE MUST BE A CHRISTIAN.. A TOLERANT AND CARING INDIVIDUAL. NO WONDER THIS COUNTRY IS FALLING APART.

314. I do believe we are living in the end times. It is really scary to think we will not be allowed to speak out against the homosexual lifestyle. They are saying it's wrong (and calling it a hate crime.) We need to follow what our God says in the Bible....it's wrong and against God. But we also need to act like the Christians we claim to be.....and follow Christ's example. Don't be hateful towards others that you don't agree with. We can speak out against it without acting violent and hateful.

315. I don't get this! If someones gay that's their business! They speak openly concerning their sex lives and detailed encounters but a straight guy speaking of a woman mentions the 'P'word and they get insulted as if a womans private more insulting than hearing what they do with a guys! But it's alright that they start the conversation stating what they say! Guy thing ladies, like you talk when we're not around thingy! Then also is that a straight guy strikes a gay and it's descrimination assault, the opposite is assault and just assault! I have nothing against gays, have some friends that are gay and we mutually respect each other putting all that aside with regards to such stated! I shouldn't have to apoligize for my sexual preferance of women!
