A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

I doubt it. 287. TV programming depends on revenue. Our church boycotts products advertised on shows that degrade our country or our troops and teach evil or promote violence and disrespectful ways to our children.
Make a list of the advertisers, go to the supermarket and get their phone number and web address. Let them know you don't like what they promote then don't buy their product.

Christian. Ms. Kern sounds a lot like Anita Bryant of the 60's.
Don't forget that Adolf Hitler blamed the Jews, Gays and others for the financial woes of Germany. The concentration camp was his remedy. Is that what is to be ours of any form of discrimination leading up to that point. We all know gay people: they are in our families; some good people and some not so good depending upon the person.
Teenage pregnancy, gangs, drugs, sex (heterosexual) and violence in the media. Are gays responsible for all of this? Wow, they must have more power than the rest of us in our society as we have allowed all of this upon ourselves.

295. This item must have gone out to all the evangelical/rightist/conservatives imploring them to respond with their exclusionary vision for America. The sooner we all learn that it is not up to us to judge one another on these cultural issues, the better off we will all be as a society. The Taliban has it wrong, and so do the people who responded by judging others based on their personal, pseudo-religious feelings towards homosexuality.

Grow up and realize that no one is bothered by the issue of voicing ones opinion but rather the stupidity of blaming an eventual apocalypse on a group on people! I mean really!
