A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

166. Homosexual acts are sin. That's right; I am usisng that un-post-modern word: Sin. It is a behavioral problem. Oh sure, some people have homosexual "inclinations" they are born with. So what? Nearly every one is born with proclivities toward certain sins; fornication, adultery, thievery, lying, envy, gluttony, pride (especially). The key to being in relationship with God--no matter what your local Episcopalian may tell you--is overcoming your own demons and obeying: there's a word for you.

167. Mankind's highest endeavor is the pursuit of the truth. And no! each person does not have their own truth. Just as there is only one law of gravity; there are laws of moral truth as well that are established over millennia if you believe in them or not.
One in ten people are not homosexuals. That is propaganda. One in a hundred people on earth identify themselves as homosexual. And I do not view that as any worse than other sinful activities. But it is sin and to say otherwise is a worse sin.
I get so tired of the homosexual movement's favorite word: hate. If I do not agree that a man putting his weiner in another man's hairy arse--the very place on the human body meant for defecation--I hate somebody? Not so.
If I tell my sister that her abortion was a sin I do not hate her. In fact I love her. It is an act of love to illuminate another person's mind to keep them from Hell. This is not hate, my friends. This is love. If you stop your child from running out into the street in front of a car, is that hate?
I think we need to revisit that word I mentioned earlier: defecation. Does any sane person really think human beings were made in the image of God to make love to the most vile place on the human body? Where the body disposes of what it wants to get out because it is dirty and nasty?

You are mistaken. Romans 1:24

169. WTF
What is a fundamentalist? One who believes that human existence in this world has fundamentals? And you disagree?

170. Jerome,
You are allowing Satan to speak through your lips. The Bible is not about guilt. It is about redemption and getting to know, love and follow God. Are there moral codes God gave us to live by? Well, yes. But not for His sake--for our sakes.

171. Homosexuals are very arrogant demonic, evil people clearly wanting to destroy every aspect of our society. Marriage, our children, and our laws to allow their wicked lifestyle to be in all aspects of our culture. Sodom and Gomorrah stand as the example of God's judgment to this wicked life choice. Repent believe in Christ as Savior, then confess your sins 1;John 1;9 to God to be restored

172. Robert,
So Marriage and the Family is not the bedrock of civilization?

173. Steve,
You are so silly. Fear of homosexuals? Who in the Hell is afraid of homos? Nobody I know? The "judge not" verse you have taken out of context; it means don't condemn others until you clean up your own house first. I am so sick of hearing people say, "Jesus never condemned homosexual acts!" For God's sake man! The fact that homosexual acts were sinful were a given. Jesus didn't have to mention it--he was a Jew!

174. # 1,4, and 11: as you said represenatative Kearn is very much so entitled to her opinions but as a US representative you should be giving facts not bogus lies. If you can name ONE civilization that colapsed in a few decades because of gay acceptance I will shut up but you can't and neither can she. Nearly all of the acient empires have accepted gays and many of them florished. She is a nut case who hasn't probably even been in a school for years and is just scared that one of her grand kids will be gay. Well let's hope they show her that you can't just simply make stuff up about people that you don't know is true which it isn't. In schools today we learn nothing about gays so she needs to go back to school and relearn what she has been taught and not only that but she obviously needs a new history lesson. Have a good one folks, this civilization ruining fag is out hahah!

175. Steve, chapter and verse have already been quoted in both the old and new testaments. Jesus is God in the flesh (Immanuel...which means God with us). God wrote the scriptures and says so over and over again throughout them....He gave the law to Moses...where He says that man is not to lie (sexually) with another man. Jesus Himself claimed that the scriptures (old testament) spoke of Him (the coming Messiah) Who would deliver His people. Darlin, Jesus is God and He wrote the law (the Jewish scriptures).

176. i think you can teach tolerance and still maintain a different set of values...that is the key to difference...i will teach my daughter my set of values (that is my obligation as a parent) and i will teach her to tolerate goofy people like ellen.

177. Good for Sally Kern. It's good to see a politician who's not a slave to political correctness. Personally, I'm sick and tired of whining, always "offended" homosexuals and the weirdos in Hollywood who promote their lifestyle. Homosexuality is not normal, I don't care what Hollywood and those public school academic meatheads say.

179. So much for degenerate's opinion. Just another ploy by a moral dropout for acceptance.

180. I agree with previous posts stating that certain groups have become the thought police. Nobody is allowed to say anything about anybody who isn't a white male. No matter what comment you make, someone will find a way to make it sound sexist, racist, homo-phobic, anti-religion, etc. The problem is more insiduous than just speech, because once you speak, these groups police your thoughts. I'm not sure it's just the liberals anymore. We're surrounded with thought nazis. What has happened to America? Pretty soon the comedians will be out of business, and no one will have the guts to run for public office.
