A Republican state legislator named Sally Kern from Oklahoma has come under considerable pressure after some ill-advised, hyperbolic and dare we say inaccurate statements about the threat posed by the apocalyptic scourge of ... homosexuality. Leave it to Ellen to puncture the comments with a mix of seriousness, grace and humor. Watch as she calls to try to talk to the representative, who by the way says she isn't sorry and that she has received death threats because of the comments (though this is apparently a questionable claim). Oh, and she actually has a gay son herself. Bet he feels great about himself.

136. Senator Kern definitely has a right to her 'opinion,' however, when someone ~ especially an elected official who is supposed to be 'educated' and 'aware' ~ bases that 'opinion' on non-factual and just plain WRONG information, Ellen or any one else who knows better has a right to attempt, at least, to correct her! We don't need this kind of thinking in any legislature anywhere! More power to Ellen!

137. If I were married to any of these Bible regurgitating bigots that have posted hate-mongering dribble on this site, I would ask for a divorce and a life-long restaining order. Their comments are insipid, lacking in human feeling, and if there is any kind of heaven that will include these vile human beings, please count me out. I am ashamed of them and their kind. They deserve to be placed far from any human being, for they should NOT be included in such a group as they are SUB-HUMAN, at the very best.

138. Sally Kern must have been born in a different century? Is she for real? You mean people actually voted for her? Unbelieveable!! Her IQ must match her age as she is the MOST uneducated person I have ever hear speak on a subject. It is sad that our politcians have turned into babbling idiots!

139. Most of you on here are horrible...I am not gay but I can respect their decisions to be so. As you all babble on and on about how Senator Kern has the right to speak her opinions and so on, doesn't that mean the Ellen is entitled to her opinions? And what that senator was saying was completley bogus. Just my opinion but most of you guys are being entirely insensitive. And have you ever thought that they don't choose to live their life this way? And ya know what...I'm pretty sure God doesn't give a damn if people are gay or not. I'm Catholic and I don't have anything against gay people. And just a heads up, God didn't write the bible.

140. Does the Bible say anything specifically about lesbians?
Nope--cause it was written by men who wanted other men to poulate a then underpopulated world--with their agenda, btw.
And knock it off with Leviticus--if you went by those rules, you'd all be in trouble as well.
Kern can say what she wants--just like Hitler did about the Jews. but this is America and we don't slander people and get all paranoid (well, minus McCarthyism) nowadays.
So if you don't like what this country is--under God (and that means anyone's God)--then get out and go to Iraq where human rights mean nothing.

141. I think that Sally Kern is allowed to express her opinion. I also feel that Ellen was poking fun at her and wasnt on some gay soap box. She isnt rosie odonnell. I personally have no problem with homosexuals. I only have one straight friend. I myself am straight and i dont feel that ellen was being rude or over the top in anyway. I do feel however that Sally Kern might be a little out of it by saying gays are worse then terrorists. When was the last time you saw a group of gay guys or lesbians hi jack a plane and fly it into our buildings? But then again this is just my opinion.

142. It's sad to see the United States headed in the Wrong Direction. Anyone who has read the Bible knows the difference in right and wrong they just try to find reasoning to make their life legitimate in what or how they live it. Any country that has followed the wrong path has fallen. When this country was founded people were urged to vote for the religeous and moral people to run this country. No one does this any more, when people vote they don't care what will be the consequences of their actions, It is sad to see God and prayer taken out of our schools and courtrooms. This country was founded on God not any other. Lets keep God in all aspects of our Country the UNITED STATES and we will prosper.

143. What a scumbag bigot Kern is. The people of Oklahoma must be so ashamed that a skank like her is representing them. Time for an impeachment vote.

144. how is asking to be treated the same as everyone else asking for the rules to be bent in there faver gays blacks and anyone else is just asking to be treated just like everyone else lets just try to treat all people the same this idea that people cant be differnt from onesself is what has caused the wars and deaths of millions of people and hating someone who is gay or black or jewish is as wrong as hating someone because the eys are blue

145. Godhasnoface, your scriptures say there is no atonement for sin without the shedding of blood...you have no temple sacrifices where you can atone for your sin...why? Because Jesus fulfilled all those sacrifices in His death on the cross...His blood atones for the sin of all who believe on Him...He is your Jewish Messiah, chosen one. Read your prophet Isaiah and you will recognize Him.

146. It says in the Bible that in the end times wrong will be made out to be right, and you see that today, sin is sin and always will be just that. We were made by a Holy Godwho Hates sin, yes hates it, as he is a God of rath as well as one of love,,So ELLEN YOU NEED TO RETHINK YOUR STAND!!

149. I'm Homosexual and proud to be....or how about Humosexual...I'm human and I'm SEXUAL and that is any ones human nature and right to be so....I prefer men and most straight women I know are miserable in their relationships. Love has no boundaries except for the ones you put there. Religion is political slavery and and this goverment has had the lead in lives from the very begining....so many people are brain washed just by their own in breed genetics....grow up and think for yourselfs.
