For months, Houston residents Diana and Oscar Mijares heard about behavior problems their daughter Megan was having in school -- problems she wasn't having at home. The concerned parents bought a tape recorder and hid it in the girl's 'High School Musical' backpack. Turns out, 4-year-old Megan isn't the problem ... it's her teacher, who was recorded saying things like "I'm going to be mean to you" and "Y'all are just stupid kids." Not surprisingly, the Mijares -- and other Houston-area parents -- are outraged, and are demanding that the teacher be dismissed.

691. it shouldn't have been necessary to hide a tape recorder. Classes should be available to be monitored by parents and school administration at any time without teachers being aware of it. When I was a kid teachers were allowed to spank kids....

693. Annie: I'll bet you're somebody's mother, aren't you? You have that maternal air about you.

694. Parents have a right to sit in the child's classroom any day of the week, at anytime. The parent has a right to their child's school records and remove things that they don't want forwarded to another school or next grade. Parents have a right to call the Agency for Child Services to investigate.

696. If you so called professional teacher assholes want to go get a teaching degree and be with children all day then I suggest you better have the patience to deal with them. If not go find another job. Funny how they complain they dont make enough money but still stay at their jobs weather they are miserable or not. Maybe these children act like this because the teachers are allowed to talk to them like shit. kids only learn what you teach them, maybe they do have shitty parents, but its not the kids fault, again if you cant handle kids go get another job. Now i understand why these kids are going to school with guns.

697. It is not illegal to record a conversation if there is no expectation of privacy. Such is the case in a classroom. Even so, does it really matter? This is not a criminal investigation. It was parents trying to get to the root of their child's problem and discovering that the problem was not their child at all.

698. That is sad. I hope that teacher gets help somewhere and takes a break from teaching until she is "well" or finds another profession. I only hope that no child she's affected is permanently "scarred" -- kids are VERY impressionable at that age obviously. Poor kids.

700. Substitute 3rd grade teacher enters the grade-school classroom located in S.Jersey, and the first thing she asks is if anyone in the classroom knew who the President in 63 was, who was assassinated. Nobody raised their hands except this little cute Japanese kid in the front row, who enthusiastically answered JFK. The teacher acclaimed the kid, and told how much the rest of the class just plain sucked. As the teacher went to sit down, a little Italian kid in the back of the room said "F the Japs", she immediattly jumped back up and wanted to know who said that, the little voice in the back of the room said "Harry Truman 1941"

701. I do believe it is aginist the law to tape anyone without notifing them. I hope they fire the teacher and put the parents in jail. This story tells alot about the bigest problems in education parents and teachers.

703. I am a teacher and I am not sticking up for the teacher.
But for the teacher to say these words to the children is not acceptable. But on the other hand parents need to wake up in this society about the behavior in our young and older children. There is such a lack of respect for authority. Parents and children need to see this as a wake up call and work together to teach
our your people the proper way to behave.
The first teacher for a child is the parents.

705. This is just the tip of an iceburg. If you really go in side a public school. You will see much worse than this. And yes this starts at home. Because you know what MOM and DAD your child does act up and will not behave because they know nothing is going to happen to them no matter what they do. So where does the finger pointing start? Yes the teacher is wrong. I am upset by it and it would'nt happen in my area. I believe all children are human beings to be treated as such.
