For months, Houston residents Diana and Oscar Mijares heard about behavior problems their daughter Megan was having in school -- problems she wasn't having at home. The concerned parents bought a tape recorder and hid it in the girl's 'High School Musical' backpack. Turns out, 4-year-old Megan isn't the problem ... it's her teacher, who was recorded saying things like "I'm going to be mean to you" and "Y'all are just stupid kids." Not surprisingly, the Mijares -- and other Houston-area parents -- are outraged, and are demanding that the teacher be dismissed.

136. I'm on this teachers side, I would get pretty mad too, when half of the kids cant even speak english. Its the fault of this crappy government. And Im not talking about the Bush administration- Clinton sent all of our manufacturing out of the country with nafta- why send jobs to mexico, there are plenty of mexicans to do the cheap work here. lol

137. Dear Brrrrrr . . . c'mon admit it. You just want to stand up front and talk all day, don't you? Or no . . . maybe you're a "Give them work pages," teacher and sit at your desk and do your next quarter's lesson plan. Or maybe you're one of the "I don't have time to grade papers." teachers. When I was a kid, if you had a question the teacher was available BEFORE AND AFTER school to answer your questions. That was their job - to make sure EVERYONE understood the lesson. No special ed teachers in the 50s, dolly - a self-fulfilling prophecy (special ed teachers).

138. It is sad that the person who commented on here feels for the teacher. You are a pathetic waste of a human being and should also have not been allowed to teach. You taught in an Urban area and know the frustrations? Come on now. You think it is ok to tell a child they are stupid? Maybe you were raised that way, but it is not ok. The teacher must be dismissed and anyone who thinks otherwise, needs to open their eyes! God forbid this happens to one of your children. Maybe you'll see it differently. If ya can't handle the job, GET THE HELL OUT! Pathetic.

139. Thank goodness Mrs. Hunt (no. 12) has retired; we don't need any more like her in the school systems. As a professional (that is what you're supposed to be, Toots), you are not allowed to have a "bad hair day" to the point where you are abusing your students--physically or mentally.
Sometimes we see the union come to the defense of the indefenisble. They are to be congratulated for standing up for what's right by letting this fool seek a job in another profession.

140. When our daughter was in 3rd grade, she had a teacher like that. Not quite as abusive, but enough that she wasn't learning and was hating school. We went to the principal and insisted that she be transferred to another 3rd grade class. She did fine after that. Teachers are like any other profession--some are good, some are bad.

"that's public school for you"
You're right. Send the kid to a Catholic school where a nice friendly priest or nun will teach her all about sex.

143. Wow, there are many vast opinions on this. I read one that said that the teacher was denied her due process and how can the parents get away with it legally. My son, who is in the 6th grade, he tapes all of his classes so he doesnt miss anything regarding his studies and explanations, and there is nothing the school can do about it. Public school is just that "PUBLIC" and there is no privacy for teachers when it comes to their classrooms or our children. For myself, my son is no angel but I do know when something is not right and as a parent, I may put more weight on what the teacher is saying but if it looks like crap, smells like crap, it probably is crap. I applaud these parents for really being involved and wish more parent to an assertive approach to what is going on in the classroom.

144. The things that that teacher said to those babies was totally outragious. She had no buisness talking to those kids like that and should be removed from the school district. It is redictulous at the fact of how teachers, adults, and parents, would what to talk, abuse and so fourth towards kids. I have 2 boys, and all I want is for them to be happy and well mannered. Actions should be taken imeditally for the actions that this teacher has done.

147. As both a parent and a former subsitute teacher, I am appalled at the teacher. If it were my kid I would go outside of the room and listen in then walk in..and say I heard what you said..and then legally nail her. The kids in the room all witnessed it. Too bad they didnt all speak up to the principal and report her.
To the former teacher, I think when a teacher violates a child's sense of self worth, a tape recorder may be that parent's only recourse to expose it. The law should allow for that. This teacher should not be reassigned but permanently lose her license. NO abuse should be tolerated from any teacher.
I am so glad my daughter is a charter school...doing most of her work online and I have trust with the administration and teachers at her school.

148. Boo Hoo Hoo. The teacher called the poor little kids stupid. I don't know one child who does not occasionally act stupid. When they do they ought to be called out. The problems in this world today result from poor parenting. Heck we need a program called the "nanny" to teach parents to take control of their own children. What has the world come to. What happened to old fashioned parenting? No means No. Hey kid you're misbehaving. Hey kid you're behaving like an idiot."Heavens No" you can't talk to children like that. What are you some kid of wife beating neanderthal?
Next time you go out in public with your pack of misbehaved little brats & you see the couple with the well behaved kids you'll have to wonder if it's me. The guy who spanks his kids when they deserve it. The guy who asks his kids "Äre you on crack?"when they do something stupid. My children are loved & not beaten nor do they want for bedtime stories, doctors appointments, regular trips to the dentist.
America, enough is enough. My job is to raise kids who can go into the world take care of themselves & realize their own potential. Letting them behave stupidly & not calling them out is just wrong, whether it hurts their feelings or not. I have no idea what the context is of how this teacher handles her class & I suppose she could be over the top strict. But that is not a bad thing. Wake up people! Your kids are going to immulate Britney Spears & not know how to chech a book out of the library if your not careful. DISIPLINE has a place. Verbal & physical.

149. Hang on people before you start criticizing over pampered and spoiled rotten brats and it is the parents fault, everyone needs to look at our government we the parents are not allowed to spank our kids yell at them, nothing why? because we have cops, CPS and any other idiot telling us we can and can't do. I know because I have 5 children and CPS has came to my house many times (because of the ex-wife) telling me what I can and can't do with my kids, so if you are going to criticize parents start somewhere's else.
