Here's why your pristine Samsonite bag arrived at the baggage claim a little banged up the last time you passed through Vancouver -- this handler was either having a bad day, or he really dislikes his job. Regardless, he's taking it out on the bags, tossing them around carelessly. Hope you didn't pack anything fragile!

46. He's throwing bags, I've never seen anybody carefully take the bag and carefully place them on the belt..in a perfect world maybe, where the staffing is good and the pay is good and the executives are aren't giving themselves bonus's while the workers take paycuts, those bags no doubt weigh a ton cuz everyone takes everything but the kitchen sink, and besides, he's probably in a hurry to get the bags on the belt so the passangers aren't bitching at the poor baggage agent because their bags aren't there the second they get off the plane.

48. this man handles thousands of bags a day...do you expect him to carefully place each one on the conveyor belt gently???? thats ridiculous. i was once in newark airport awaiting my luggage and a baggage handler got on the belt where the bags come out and started kicking my bag because it turned sideways and was blocking the belt. he had the crowd cheering and as a wheel broke off he said "i wont tell if you dont". he caused major damage to my bag..he almost fainted when i said it was my bag..but the airline paid for a new bag and more than mine was worth anyway...i wouldnt want their job

49. I THROW MY GARBAGE BAGS INTO THE DUMPSTER MUCH EASIER THAN THAT JACKASS IS TREATING PEOPLES LUGGAGE

50. IF I EVER SAW ANYONE TREATING MY LUGGAGE IN THAT FASHION AT AN AIRPORT I WOULD GO DOWN AND BEAT THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF HIM. HE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR HAVING A LOUSY ATTITUDE AND TREATING OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY LIKE IT WAS A BAG OF GARBAGE

51. I did this exact same job for a couple of years. This is pretty ridiculous..I mean don't get me wrong, your bags get tossed around a bit by the baggage handlers just because of the volume of baggage we need to move in a short span of time, but this guy clearly is trying to intentionally break stuff...or he just doesn't care.
The only thing I can say is....if you have a bag thats either really really heavy, overstuffed, or just has a ton of buckles and straps hanging off of it...expect it to arrive on the other side broken. It just happens.

52. Incidentally....I saw someone suggested a self loading and unloading system. I don't really ever see this happening. Granted wide-body aircraft like the 747 have containerized luggage but there is still someone that has to place the luggage in the containers and drive it out to the ramp and place the containers in the plane. And they'll NEVER have container luggage for anything smaller than a widebody...it just doesn't make sense based on the size of the aircraft's hold. You're still going to have to have a guy inside the belly of the plane stacking the baggage and people driving it out there on carts. Besides the baggage people are also the same people that push-back the plane and do other ground support services. They're not going away anytime soon.

54. Looks like a normal scum worker that has no respect for anything or anyone and is also probably on drugs. I'de bet is wife is even battered ( which may not be a bad thing being married to such a scum, she probably deserves it. )

56. This happens at every airport, and it's been happening all the time. It's funny that this has been brought up now, Don't you get it. I also know that baggage handler employees do not get blamed for this. The screening employees are the ones who takes the heat for damage that is done by these personnel. Something should be done about this ASAP, because thousands of dollars of damage is being caused by this action.

58. One person unloading 100's of bags that weigh at least 50lbs a piece....whats he supposed to do? Start paying these people some decent wages and they might care more.
