Here's why your pristine Samsonite bag arrived at the baggage claim a little banged up the last time you passed through Vancouver -- this handler was either having a bad day, or he really dislikes his job. Regardless, he's taking it out on the bags, tossing them around carelessly. Hope you didn't pack anything fragile!

407. Looks kind of tame to me -- I've seen lots worse -- even from ticket agents tossing bags on the conveyor belt in plain sight of the customers.
I imagine they're resentful of everyone who gets to fly while they don't. Of course if the airlines didn't nickle and dime them, they might not be so resentful. But sadly, in this country, it's the people who work on the frontlines and deal with the paying customer who get the least respect from their stupid employers who are only interested in jacking up their obscene salaries and bonuses.
It's amazing luggage lasts as long as it does.

408. Flew on Delta in November and had brand new luggage in a rasberry color. When I got it back it was filty and scratched up. I flew back in Feb on Jet Blue and when I got my luggage again it has a broken zipper and all the wheels and plastic were completely gouged and not fixable. I don't have the money to go out and buy another peace of luggage. This luggage was the only one I found anywhere and even my Mother wanted it and of course now i'll just have to use this broked one because these baggage handlers don't have any respect for other peoples belongings.

409. Ah, can you imagine yourself doing that kind of job? OMG! Everyday the same thing over and over until it's time to go home. As if the bags were not loaded onto the plane in exactly the same manner only in a different city. The handlers make anywhere from $8.95 to $10.15. As for packing either anything fragile or expensive then the passenger is either a 1st timer or just plain stupid! Give the guy a break willya just as you'd like one in your job.

410. Nothing wrong going on here. I've worked for 4 airlines and this is standard handling. There just isn't time to gently and slowly place every bag on the belt. I personally treat every bag as if it is my own, and a gentle toss will not harm a bag or its contents. Most damage is done by the conveyor system or in the "stacking" process in the bin. I'd say about 90% of the people that try this job can't hack it and quit. If you worked this job you would be doing the same thing.

411. I sat in the plane at Las Vegas a few weeks ago and watch the guy toss the luggage on the belt just this way. One bag was thrown so hard it bounced off the far side of the conveyor belt. I don't know which is worse...having your luggage banged up or things stolen since we can no longer lock them.
