Here's why your pristine Samsonite bag arrived at the baggage claim a little banged up the last time you passed through Vancouver -- this handler was either having a bad day, or he really dislikes his job. Regardless, he's taking it out on the bags, tossing them around carelessly. Hope you didn't pack anything fragile!

331. I saaw nothing wrong here. Maybe those of you commenting on his lack of respect, or threatning him with violence, should learn a bit about the job before you comment on how it's done. You just why airlines have these signs all of the baggage claim stating luggage is meant to protect it's contents and will get scuffed, bruised, dented etc. When you're moving 200 pieces that way 25-70 pounds each alone, frequently yanking, tossing, and throwing is the only way to get it done in the time alotted.

333. Sadly, as a 30 year retired pilot, this stuff is typical even to the crew's bags. They spend much more energy tossing them than just doing their jobs correctly.

335. Uh. Did I miss something? It didn't really looks that bad. I'm sure worse happens all the time. It is a shame that millions of people have not a shred of enthusiasm about their job though.

338. Don't pack anything breakable. Don't trust any baggage handler, don't trust the airlines to have your luggage arrive on the same plane with you. And if it does, just collect it, say a prayer of thanks and go home.

339. This guy, the way he is handling this heavy luggage is going to put him in a wheel chair for lower back damage when he gets older. He needs to be properly trained to handle these things or he will pay the price for his and/or his employers ignorance.
Seems to me they could automate this stuff better without these guys having to lift and twist with heavy objects. He'll end up with workmans comp and the price of an airline ticket will go up.
So if that is any consolation to a damaged bit of luggage or a broken mouthwash bottle inside, you have the right, I guess. to feel vindicated.

340. Being a retired Instructor for ground service with a major Airline,We would teach proper baggage handling and this is not what we teach. If this baggage handler was caught by us or a supervisor he would most likely be brought up on charges,if he was on probation (a new employee with less then 90 days, He would be fired) We teach to handle baggage as if it was your own. This definitely is not what he was taught. Sorry to see this happen because it ruins the image of all other baggage handlers that take pride in their work. Keep in mind the job is a hard job , outside in all types of weather and working within a time restrait of minimum connection times. But that still is no reason to handle peoples belongings like that.

344. I want to say that when I returned from Portland, Oregon to North Carolina last Nov. after throat cancer surgery that my Samsonite suitcase came out on the conveyer at baggage claim broken open and all my things in a big pile under it. What a total disregard and lack of respect for other people's property! - Cheri Kay

345. I hate the fact that other people can handle my belongings. I stood and watched a man who worked at Detroit metro Airport unzip my bags and go through them. Apparently he didn't get one of the pockets closed because when I got home there was no address book in there and my cell phone charger, and contact lens case was gone. The address book was what upset me the most.
