Here's why your pristine Samsonite bag arrived at the baggage claim a little banged up the last time you passed through Vancouver -- this handler was either having a bad day, or he really dislikes his job. Regardless, he's taking it out on the bags, tossing them around carelessly. Hope you didn't pack anything fragile!

286. This is not a surprise at all and I am bewildered at the fact that many people are finding this shocking. Almost every "baggage-handler" that works for an airline probably does the same thing. I doubt there is formal training programs developed for showing someone how to take bags and put them on a conveyor belt. I feel as though this one individual should not have been called out when probably every one of his co-workers does the same exact thing. Maybe this will make people wake-up to the reality that this happens everywhere and that this is not an isolated incident.

287. This is nothing, he's not even throwing them hard, just tossing them. Do you have any clue how many bags he handles a day? Stuff should be properly packed, handlers cannot go treating every single package like it contains the crown jewels. I work for the postal service and I throw fragile, insured packages harder than that, not out of carelessness but just going about my job, and not wasting any time delicately handling stuff that should be packaged properly. If it breaks and it wasn't insured or properly packaged, that's your problem.

288. This is the reason why I don't buy expensive luggage. This airline is Air Canada. You can see the Maple Leaf on the rear of the luggage trailers.

290. What sad is the conveyor belt is right next to him, so no reason for him to be tossing the bags in that manner. He's definitely doing it on purpose. I wondered why I had a zipper busted open on a bag, and other assorted scratches and tears on my leather luggage, now I know. I think the airports should be held accountable for this damage, that would stop these morons from doing this nonsense, because they would lose their jobs if enough monetary damages started piling up.

292. WTF are you guys talking about?! This is how the job is done. Jesus, if there was a camera watching me when i worked at an international airport, i would have been fired 30 times over if it was for just this. If you have expensive stuff, check it you morons! As a baggage handler we'd have to play tetris with 300-500 bags ranging in weight from 2-100 pounds. But believe that if it was obviously expensive (guitars, golf clubs, etc.) that they don't really get messed with. I'm a guitar player myself, and I wouldn't want my stuff broken either. But that's just how the job is folks...

295.
I am so glad this guy got caught,I flew to Germany and when I got my luggage it was a mess.I wish they would watch more of their employees who handle people's luggage .I have watched them unload and there is no excuse for thorwing things around as they do,if you don't care about others then you should not be in this business, please take a few mins to see what your employees are doing.we pay good money to fly with you
and would hope you care about us

296. I am a airport employee and see this type of behavior
on a near daily basis. One reason may be the low pay.
Most likely it's the companies/carriers fault for hiring High School drop-outs and overall LOSERS!

297. Imagine yourself in this guys position. You've been at this for a week or a coupla years. Would you really like to be doing this all day? Heavy, light, odd shaped, bulky luggage. This doesn't look too outta hand.

298. I work for the airlines and I have worked in several locations, and everyone throws the bags like that, we have 25 min or less to bring the plane in, park it, deplane all passengers, download all bags, then drop all bags at the carousel, then load all bags , load all passengers, and then push out the plane, its called a turn, and we get in trouble if we dont speed it up, if we gently placed luggage on the carousel, whe would be there for over half an hour.
I suggest,
1.No fragile items in bags:no matter what anyone tells you, all bags are treated the same, which means if you have a fragile sticker on your bag, odds are it will be smashed by hundreds of other bags.Take all fragile items with you on the plane(airlines are not responsible for your lack of common sense), another option is to fedex or ship it.
2.No designer bags:give me a break, I assure you you $500 bag will be beat up and even ruined, focus on getting a strong hardshell bag, and allways avoid overstuffing.
This video to me shows a lazy and slow ramper who is probably new, once you get the hang of it you become a lot faster, to me he looks like hes taking it alot easier on the bags than I usually see, get over it!

299. I have to say, I didn't see anything that terrible either. I thought he was going to actually use one bag to hammer another into the ground or something. He was just tossing them on the conveyor. Maybe people should quit watching what other people are doing if things like this upset them.

300. Baggage handlers are doing this job not because they like it, but because of one of two reasons, one being they like the free flight benefit, or two, they are simply waiting around for something better to come along. They cant possibly be there because of the pay. Baggage handlers, are some of the most underpaid in the airline industry, for all of the hard work they do.
