Here's why your pristine Samsonite bag arrived at the baggage claim a little banged up the last time you passed through Vancouver -- this handler was either having a bad day, or he really dislikes his job. Regardless, he's taking it out on the bags, tossing them around carelessly. Hope you didn't pack anything fragile!

136. I think this guy hates his job!! You know, those luggage that we have to buy are NOT Cheap by any means! He needs to be more careful or find another job! What a shame!

137. LOL - PEOPLE!!! Take notice - my husband was a baggage loader....they ALLLLLL handle bags like that! Every single loader just lobs the bags on the belt!!! Don't think its just him, or him having a bad day - that is how its done!! 100% of the time!!

138. I didn't see anything unusual. Looks normal for every baggage handler in every airport. Those conveyer belts are not straight. There are twists and turns and the wheels and straps on luggage get caught on the corners. That is why they get torn off and the luggage is beaten up. It is not all the baggage handlers. I never put anything fragile in my luggage. I keep it with me or send ahead.

139. This is not unusual. I traveled by air for years and had my luggage cut open and things removed as I stood like a sheep staring at a non moving conveyor (Miami International), had luggage opened and things rifled through (Miami International), had baggage lost(Miami Internationsl), gee see a pattern here? Well, if this is all the guy is doing, so what. It is a crappy job and people cram as much into their suitcases as they can. People travel light and if you have something valuable or precious, ship it UPS or FED EX(mom always travels with her home bed pillows and special coffees so she ships them ahead UPS) . Or if you have lots of clothes or speciality items, hand carry them. You are traveling on a commercial airliner NOT your personal car. duh

140. I wouldn't call that mangling. Tossing is more like it. This is not abnormal. If it's valuable or fragile DON'T CHECK IT! Ship it or carry it!

141. I think next time I fly Im going to put a pot roast out in the sun for a few weeks then pack it in fragile glass along with all of the "Juice" and put it in a duffle bag for them then they can break it and deal with the mess...

143. I have learned the "secret" to not having bags destroyed. I buy the cheapest luggage I can find. I think baggage handlers consider themselves garbage with low paying jobs so are jealous of those who fly and have nice luggage. Since I switched from expensive luggage to big box store specials; no problems. Good luck!

146. All I see is that he is doing his job. He's a baggage handler getting the bag to the customer. If you have something fragile, you should carry it on.

147. I traveled on DELTA AIRLINES, to Ohio & back afer few days, & wen I was "searched" there was this BLACK airport staff who was rude & obnoxious & this is the check before boadring. my return trip, I decided to place my hand held baggage in the cargo & upon arrival, the bad was broken into , my 5 pieces of silver coins (self minted CLINTON coins for the US) was STOLEN. DELTA AIR refused to compensate or acknowledge this & made every excuse they could not to pay for ripped bagage & stolen items. After this late night vic-morrow, I discovered that my car keys went along with the other items too. HOW SICKENING CAN THE AIRPORT HANDLERS BE? This was soon after the 9/11 disaster & teh bloody airport staff, be IMMIGRATION OR BAGGAGE or SECURITY CHECK FELLAS,,all are deemed SHITS!! The rudest & arrogant people on this face of earth. Being a darn white man & nothign can be worst off than getting checked by a bloody BLACK staffer. Then my friend had her solid hard fibre glass bags CRACKED UP ,,,HOW & WHO WITH SUCH FORCE COULD CRACK THIS??? YOUR GUESS ,,,i decided to take a peek soon as I got off the aircraft, went around & from the tarmac I had actually seen this bloody BLACK BLOKE TOSS THE BAGGAGE AS FAR AS HE COULD & AS HIGH SO WHEN IT FALLS IT WILL DEFINITELY BREAK. SO MUCH FOR USA AIRPORT STAFF,,,ALL NEEDS PSYCHIATRIC HELP!!!!

148. Um yeah easy to call the kettle black folks! You try unloading 10 planes worth of bags that usually number into the 150's per plane, and people who need to pack everything including thier homes for 3 day trip. Bags usually weighing in around 65 lbs +. Lets see how gently you handle those bags, making $10 an hour!

149. Wise up, people, have your luggage sent on by Ground or Sky delivery a day or two ahead of your departure.

150. Didn't look bad to me. Looked like he just tossed them onto the conveyer, from the description I was expecting to see him violently throwing bags. Did I miss something? Are these people expected to walk each bag over and set them nicely on the conveyer? If you pack fragile items, they should be wrapped and set in the center of your luggage. when the bags come down the shoot at pick up they land just as hard as these tossed bags.
