Television wags have sniped that the Super Bowl is the only television event where viewership would actually decrease if the commercials were removed. We'd have to agree. Even with sponsors not blinking at price tags clocking in at $2.7M to $3M for a 30-second spot, some ads are thrown overboard into the wake of the information diaspora that is the Internet. Over the years, various networks have turned away many an ad -- judging them as either too offensive, downright embarrassing or masquerading as dreaded 'advocacy ads.' We at The Videologist have labored -- undeterred by the NFL -- to wade through many bouncy chests, bared bottoms and awkward kisses to figure out why exactly these ads were dismissed. It was tough work.
'Britney Spears'
Pepsi, 2002
Spot Remover: Back when she was the embodiment of budding sexuality, Britney Spears brought her dance moves and provocative leering to new heights in this Pepsi commercial. Skimpy outfit aside, her curvaceousness had to be edited onto to the dance floor, leaving us an advert much like a 24-hour old lukewarm Pepsi-Cola. In retrospect though, what was the fuss all about?
A Likely Sponsor: 'Dance War' -- who knew this reject signaled the beginning of dancing as a contact sport?
Most Offended: The marketing geniuses at Coke.

76. The SuperBowl and the commercials are for ENTERTAINMENT purposes and occasionally we might get to see an add for a new product that is actually worth buying. If you don't like it then change the damn channel or,just to be different, spend some quality time with your FAMILY or read a book. No one is forcing you to watch. Why whine about it?

78. who cares about domestic violence,if u women would stop bitching about every damn thing all damn day, half of you wouldnt get slapped.plus, more than half the domestic violence arrests are from false statements anyway, all a women has too do is get mad at her man and call the cops and say he hit me,then the guy goes to jail and the women ends up sleeping with a friend of his. get some morals then you will get respect. and by the way,as a fan of football,i dont wanna see some stupid d.v.commercials anyway.

79. In 2004, more people watched the Superbowl than voted in the Presidential election.
Let this be remembered as a footnote in the pages of the Decline and Fall of The American Empire.

81. seems to be a superbowl of commercials rather than football (it is football, isn't it?). Who gives a samn about the damn commercials. They run one play and go to commercial. run another and go to commercial....and then bring on the entire population of Dallas, Tx at half time...and then run a commercial. This is football??

82. I hate that half time show...whatever became of good marching bands. why does it have to be a broadway production at half time. There is not enough time for it anyway.

83. TO: MTZZILOVE - You've taken one too many blows to the head, dear, yourself. You can't construct an intelligent sentence, can't spell worth a DAMN, and have no outside interests, obviously. Having worked in a domestic violence home myself, as a volunteer, I've known many women who could have run a whole lot sooner, but didn't. They wanted that paycheck coming in, and they'd stay with us till they were kicked out, because they didn't want to work. Most of them were skanks and deadbeat moms - mostly single ones. Don't put yourselves in that situation and keep your thighs together till you're married, plus make better, more educated choices.

86. Never thought that I would ever post my comments, but, after reading the 1st reader's, I was compelled to do so. MZZTLOVE is a total FANATICAL FREAK, whose wise words (rolling my eyes) taint such a valid subject. Where is the connection between the Super Bowl and domestic violence statistics? I say to MZZTLOVE "Go find an appropriate chat room the next time you want to 'Blah, blah, blah.'" I would bounce this person (or like) out of my Super Bowl party for being A TOTAL BUZZ KILL!!!
You shouldn't always take life so seriously-it's not permanent.

87. mzztlove- hostile much? you do realize it is just a game, right? people are going to bet on the game if it upsets you or not. so why wouold you get so upset over someone elses actions? EVERYONE has some bad habbits, gambeling, drinking, whatever, but it is their problem.so who cares? sorry you have to blame the game for others gambeling. i hope you enjoy your sunday, game or not.............oh yeah-GO GIANTS!!!
i am going to enjoy the game even if some idiot looses their house on it.

89. actually MZZTLOVE, I AM a victim of domestic violence and happen to enjoy the superbowl very much. You have the freedom not to watch, but not the right to keep others from watching. Isn't America great?
