No. 8: Pilot
What Happens: Jack wakes up in a jungle, and slowly begins to hear screaming from a nearby beach -- he races there to discover his fellow passengers escaping from the fiery wreckage of Flight 815. Kate helps stitch a cut on Jack's back, and he tells her a story of a mistake he made while operating on one of his first patients as a surgeon. Jack, Kate and Charlie track down the cockpit of the plane, where the pilot tells them they were 1,000 miles off course when the plane crashed. The pilot is then eaten by the creepy island monster.
Why We Loved It: It kickstarted everything we'd eventually love about the show -- the characters, the storytelling, the supernatural elements and, for us HD viewers, the amazing, lush scenery.
