Attention, everyone who's dying for to get an iPhone:
New York Times reporter David Pogue has one.
In this very tongue-in-cheek video diary, he simultaneously worships at the altar of Apple (look at how cool it is!) while skewering the phone -- and all the surrounding hype around its release (it causes global warming!). He'll take you through the shady process of acquiring the iPhone as well as showing off some of the pros (the music interface is great -- be sure to note Pogue's
Aaron Carter collection) as well as cons. Don't worry about the cons ... it still has a cool Apple logo.

1. The video was corny but that phone is so worth $500! It's lame though that it's only available on AT&T. I hope it comes with a nice case because if I drop it the amount of times I drop my ipod I'm screwed.

2. Well the memory not being expandable I dont think will be a problem seeing that you can cop your iphone with 4 or 8 G's that's more than enough for me personally, however the fact that I could'nt change out the battery myself and had to send it in to be replaced was the deciding factor that made me opt not to get the ipod so I guess now I have to ask myself that question again, knowing that it's inevitable that i'll have to be without my phone for whatever period of days or weeks it'll take just to change a "battery", hmmmmm, nahh I think i'll chill with my Blackberry and "OOOO n AHHHH" at my Boi's Iphone (cause I know he's probably standing in line as now). But i'll be prepared to loan him my spare (and chuckle) when the time comes.

3. I think the iphone is way cool, however, i will wait for the next generation, just in case there are a few bugs to be worked out. Besides maybe the price will come down just a bit.

4. OMG...I just saw the demo on the apple website. I am in awe with this phone, I want one really badly..However, not willing to spend $500.00 on a phone that will drop several times, be without it when the battery exhausts or switching my service from verizon.I guess I will have to wait a couple of years and wait for the price to come down and offer different service providers.Good luck with your awesome phone.. be envied

5. Extremely funny video. Dave, did you write it yourself? Hope so. Kuddos. Great review too, as always. I hope Apple realizes that they're going to have to set up shops where you can bring the thing in to get a battery change on the spot. That battery deal will truly haunt them as will the slow AT&T web. I'm thinking that at 5-6 Franklins a pop, the masses will wait and see. Just remember that the iPod price never came down, so no use waiting for that to happen here. Again, loved that video. Thanks.

8. The iPhone sucks ass. First of all, it only comes with AT&T(horrible company, bad service). Second of all, it's APPLE, so that means that the iPhone is pure evil. It's 500 dollars, people! Who the hell would pay that much for a gimmicky, crappy, overpriced phone?! Down with the iFuck.

9. The Iphone is cool, however I believe apple let us down with quite a few "cons".
The big one is the inability to use the faster protocols such as 3g/HSDPA. The inability to take video as well as the battery issue all make it a big "buy it later after it gets upgraded" item.
Of course there are a lot of appleheads out there that will buy it for the cool factor and no doubt will think nothing of shelling out another 500 bucks for the upgraded model which will probably be released in a year or two.
The fact is that, for anything other than the gimmick factor, the iphone is easily outclassed by many other phones already on the market. People just need to keep in mind that first and foremost this thing is supposed to be a CELL PHONE. If you want an MP3/video player you are probably better served by buying a decent 50 dollar cell phone (which, by the way, the newer ones support the faster 3g protocols and are priced UNDER a hundred bucks) and a video ipod. All of which will cost you less than the cost of the iphone and battery life for both will be much longer guaranteeing you much more use out of your items.

10. Loved the video. Very funny. I want the Iphone, but like some said I'll wait for the next generation when AT&T hopefully has better service in my area. Right now the Iphone restrictions are not worth the money or hassle.

13. Luckily, I live in the deep south where these new tech toys are not as highly sought after as in metro areas. I walked into AT&T at 6:20 yesterday, had only 10 min wait inside store where I played with tester unit. I got it home, had no problems accessing iTunes, now have it fully operational. I LOVE IT!!! Very cool, great internet access. I still don't seem to be able to get the songs from iTunes, however. Entering contact info is a little slow. I love the touch screen, the phone volume is a little weak for me, unless I use speaker phone. I'd like to see the weather in Mobile, not Cupertino,CA, and can't seem to get that changed. Anyway, I highly recommend this new toy, especially for realistic e-Baying experience. Get It!

14. Why would you pay $500 for the iPhone? It is buy far no where near worth it. Get a phone with Microsoft mobile 5.0 or 6.0 and a decent cell plan thru Verizon or T-moblie. Both have phones that easily perfom better than the iPhone and have quad band/3G (verizon) web service for about $300.
